Please take the time to read this important information about preschool. Thank you
Spare clothes and what to wear
It’s really important that children have the opportunity to get involved and experiment with the full range of activities preschool provides.
Examples of activities include:-
- painting
- gardening
- cooking
- playing in the water
- and lots of other sensory activities
Our advice is that you don’t send them in their best clothes!!
We always encourage the children to be physical outside in all weathers, running, climbing and riding on scooters/ bikes so please ensure that they wear sensible shoes. We are more than happy to keep a pair of spare wellies at preschool for you if that makes life easier!
As the weather gets cooler it’s a good idea to dress your children in plenty of layers so that they are not too hot or too cold during the day.
We do have spare clothes at preschool for the children and understand that toilet training can take some time to establish, so, if you think your child is likely to need changing during sessions please provide us with a couple of spare outfits ( and LOTS of pants!) in a named bag. Also, if your child is likely to feel uncomfortable wearing ‘preschool clothes’, again, just pop a spare outfit in a named bag.
For the safety of all the attending children please do not ever use plastic bags.
Progress checks for 2 year olds
Could you please let us know if your child has not had a two year old progress check undertaken by your health visitor. If they have not, preschool will need to complete this progress check for you.
2 year old LEA funding / free places
Some 2 year olds are eligible for funded sessions/ free places. If you know you are eligible for the 2 year old funding/free places, please fill in the reply slip below and return it to Michele ASAP.
we need you to sign an additional claim form in order for us to claim the funding from the council
Fees
Lots of parents have been asking about how and when to pay their fees. You can pay for your fees weekly, half termly or termly. Shehnaz Shah our finance administrator will be sending out invoices before the half term holidays. You can pay for your fees by cheque, direct debit, online banking and we accept some childcare vouchers. Please feel free to speak to Shehnaz about any queries you have. (Contact details below)
Lunch boxes
It’s been so lovely to see such an array of healthy lunch boxes! The children have been doing very well sitting and engaging together during lunch time Please remember no fizzy cans, chocolate bars (eg mars snicker etc) or sweets. Please provide your child with a named lunch box/bag (again not plastic), many thanks.
Snack
Did you know we provide a snack twice during the day? Snack times are around 10.15 am and 2.30pm . We provide children with a drink of either milk or water (their choice) fruit, crackers , biscuits and cheese. When we celebrate different festivals at preschool we enjoy foods from other cultures and countries too!
Perhaps you would like to help us celebrate a festival from your own culture/religion? If so don’t hesitate to come and speak to us – we love to party!!!
Sessions and swaps
If you require any additional sessions or would like to swap days you mustcontact Ellen (contact details below). Due to high demand for places other staffs are no longer able to authorise any changes. We now have a request form you can fill in if you wish to change / swap days. We are looking into creating a ‘swap shop’ for parents/carers to use, watch this space…..!!!!
Text alerts
Preschool uses a text system to keep you in the loop! I am currently updating the system; if you have changed your mobile phone number please let me know so I have the correct contact details for you. Feel free to reply to our texts, or text me if you have any questions about preschool, I will endeavour get back to you as soon as I can
Sickness/ illness
if your child is unable to attend due to sickness/illness you can contact us on the day either by text or phone. Please do not send children to preschool who are ill, it’s a very busy environment and not suitable for children who are unwell. If your child suffers with diarrhoea /sickness please keep them off preschool for 48 hours after the last episode to avoid cross contamination.
