Happy New Year Preschool parents and carers!
Topic
Again, we are enjoying following the seasons and thinking about winter and frozen. brrrrrrr
Activities we are enjoying include:-
- Playing in the frozen castle
- Feeding the birds
- Putting on gloves
- Pairs and patterns
- Looking at hot and cold places on the globe / map
- Antarctic small world play
Do you have a topic related book we could borrow?
Do you have news from home we could share at carpet time? Or photos?
We will be celebrating Chinese New Year too during the last 2 weeks of this half term.
Snowy weather
If Pre School has to close due to snowy weather we will let you know by text, so it’s really important that we have the correct contact number for you.
Don’t feel you need to battle the elements to get your child in during bad weather! We will endeavour to be open for you unless it’s absolutely necessary to close.
Updating our records and your contact details
Each term we ask you to let us know if any of your contact details have changed. Please fill in and return the reply slip with your up to date telephone numbers, emergency contacts and a list of other people who have permission to pick up your child.
We have had some difficulty contacting parents , please ensure that you have your phone handy in case of an emergency.
Reading and books
It’s really important to read with your child at home, and sharing a book with each other has huge benefits for language development and vocabulary. Do you have a library card? Why not join Headingley library? If you have a favourite story please let us know or bring it in for us to share at carpet time.
Spare clothes and nappy changes.
Thank you to everyone who has returned and donated spare clothes. Please ensure that if your child requires changing throughout the day you provide us with a named change bag (not plastic).
As we enjoy lots of messy activities we think it would be a good idea if all children bring a set of spare clothes that we can keep in their tray. Again please put their name on these and just pop them straight into their tray. No plastic bags please.
We are happy to keep named wellies at Pre School too!
Lunch boxes
Please ensure you provide your child with a healthy lunch box and not too much food!
What to put inside?
- a piece of fruit
- a drink- not fizzy cans
- sandwich, pasta , rice etc
Remember children MUST NOT bring any
sweets, chewing gum or lollies to pre school as they can cause choking.
If you think your child could have sweets in their pocket please check before you drop them off, thank you.
Sickness
Just another reminder not to bring sick children into preschool. It is a very busy environment where cross contamination is very easy. Thanks
Toys
We really don’t mind if your child brings in a comfort toy when they are settling into preschool. However for those children who are VERY settled, can we ask that they don’t bring in any toys from home? This includes lip balms, nail varnish, magazines and dolls. We have lots to play with at preschool!
All training days and calendar information can be found on the outdoor notice board.
Many thanks
