Established in 1981, Headingley Preschool (formally St Michael’s Preschool) has been a part of the Headingley community for over thirty years. We moved from St Michael’s Parish Hall onto the Shire Oak School site (Wood Lane) in 2007 and have continued to develop our play provision from there. Ten years on we are now offering full days (9am-3pm) five days a week to children aged from 30 months. To meet the demand for quality preschool education in the Headingley/Meanwood areas, in 2016 we opened a second setting in Burton Crescent, offering places to children fom 24 months, and extended opening hours. . We run both settings during term time only (39 weeks a year) and children can attend mornings, afternoons or full day sessions.

As a registered charity Preschool is committed to providing affordable childcare. In the term following your child’s third birthday you are eligible to apply for the Nursery Education Grant which will fund your child for 15 hours of FREE Nursery education a week. It is your choice as to how flexibly you use these free hours, whether that be full days, morning or afternoon sessions. From September 2017, eligible parents have been able to access up to 30 hours of free childcare. Families in receipt of certain benefits may be eligible for  15 hours funding for 2 year olds.
